On Friday 9th May, almost 200 event and hospitality professionals headed to BMA House in London for the industry-renowned sustainability awards, hosted by certification experts Greengage Solutions.
The awards celebrated the change makers in the industry and provided inspiration from a wide range of sustainable initiatives from venues, agents, suppliers and charities. There were 15 categories, and competition was tough, with a growing number of eco-conscious event, hospitality, and travel professionals in attendance, including Eventurous, an event management company that won the Platinum award for The Best Sustainable Event Management Company. The judges consisted of industry sustainability trailblazers who were impressed with Eventurous and their desire to make changes to their own operations on-site when working with venues and suppliers on client events and with their commitment to educating others in the industry.
To top off an already successful day for Eventurous, the good news continued when their marketing manager and sustainability champion Ellie Cashmore received the Gold Sustainability Champion of the Year award for her efforts in making a positive impact within the company.
The day saw some unique green initiatives, such as table centres made from a selection of vegetables. At the end of the event, delegates were encouraged to take home the vegetables and were given a bag for life to do so sustainably – a clever touch to the event no one had seen before!
Greengage and Eventurous are proud to be partners of industry charity Meeting Needs who help raise funds for causes across the globe and on the day the delegates raised over £2,000 for charity. This was an exceptional result demonstrating the level of care and compassion in the room from the leaders of sustainability in the events sector who are keen to support others.
