6 Surprising Benefits You Didn’t Know About Team Building Treasure Hunts

Treasure Hunts have long been one of the UK’s most popular outdoor team building activities and for good reason – but we will get into that later. If you’ve been considering taking your employees on a team building adventure across your local, UK or even European city, here are 6 benefits you probably didn’t know about team building treasure hunts and why you should book yours today!

How A Corporate Treasure Hunt Works

Exploring the city with colleagues on a treasure hunt

  1. Start The Day: The day starts with a team briefing from our Event Manager, whereby the activity is explained before teams head off on their hunt. Typically, a treasure hunt briefing takes place at the client’s offices or a local bar, hotel or restaurant.
  2. Get Into Teams & Explore: Employees are then split into small teams, and so this event is ideal for 20 – 1000+ participants. Each team is provided with an iPad equipped with GPS technology and treasure hunt software. Groups explore their chosen city, search hidden streets and discover famous landmarks in search of hotspots, leading to a range of fun and creative tasks including solving puzzles, answering quizzes, taking on photo and video challenges. Each time a challenge is solved, points are added to the group on the leaderboard.
  3. The After Party: Once the treasure hunt has finished, everyone gathers at a meeting point (usually a pub, bar or restaurant) for a de-brief, presentation of the funniest photos and videos and to present prizes to the winning team.
  4. The Benefits: Now we’ve given you insight into how a team building treasure hunt works, let’s get into our 6 surprising things you didn’t know about corporate treasure hunts and why they offer so much more than just a fun outdoor team activity.

1. Employee Wellbeing

Work-life balance can be hard in the city, new norms can mean more teams are working from home, resulting in less time to connect with colleagues face-to-face or build those all-important connections and relationships.

A potential lack of community and trust can result in an impact on the social, mental and physical well-being of employees, which is where team building treasure hunts come to save the day!

Corporate treasure hunts support all three areas of wellbeing by encouraging teams to:

  • Get outdoors, breathing in the fresh air, walking and connecting in the sunshine
  • Keep teams connected and working together at all times
  • Encourages communication across teams throughout the activity in groups and through the online chat function
  • Guaranteed to provoke healthy competition and laughter

2. Carbon Friendly

Corporate treasure hunts offer a sustainable team building solution, supporting your company’s important economic, social and governance (ESG) goals. iPads are the only piece of equipment used in the activity, which are charged by solar power at the Eventurous HQ.

And… if renewable energy wasn’t enough, this activity requires delegates to attend and partake on foot only, resulting in no travel emissions from your team – it doesn’t get more green than that!

A single Event Manager is provided (in most cases) to run the hunt, and they usually travel by public transport. It is an event best held in city centres and requires minimal equipment for transporting – again keeping travel emissions to an absolute minimum. If you’re looking to impress the boss with a team building solution that cares for people and the planet, this is the perfect option.

3. The After Party

Community in the workplace is an important topic and was the 2025 campaign theme for Mental Health Awareness Week. Treasure hunts can assist your company in building a workplace community, reinforcing a positive company culture and particularly at the after-party!

When time on the hunt is up, ask teams to retreat to a location of your choice for the grand finale presentation and some well-deserved drinks and refreshments. Great options include:

  • Restaurants
  • Cocktail Lounges
  • Traditional Pubs
  • Function Rooms
  • Hotel Bars

Laughter is guaranteed in the finale as teams can look back at the best moments from the day, including an unexpected showreel of the funniest photos and video challenges. Choose a location near employee accommodations, office or transport links for ease to host your team celebrations or contact our free venue-finding team to do it for you!

4. Bespoke to Your Business

Customised treasure hunts are powerful tools for delivering important company messages and raising brand awareness.

Picture your own branded platform loaded onto each team’s iPad, including bespoke questions that test knowledge on the company, location or whatever subjects you decide. Custom t-shirts and clothing for the event can help bring the team together and create a strong sense of belonging.

Why not brand your afterparty with décor in the company colours and go the extra mile by including branded food, drink and some company merch?

Our Creative Services team can assist with any branding and customisations you may require.

5. Complimentary Content

Free, authentic content, perfect for positive post-event communications highlighting your fantastic company culture.

High-quality original content is also a great way to increase web presence and gain more exposure for your business..

A study conducted by Centre Parcs in 2025 states that ‘81% of HR Managers felt that outdoor corporate events directly drive revenue.’

But how? Many studies show that there are productivity and mood benefits of getting your team away from the workplace, and further show that by getting employees into the great outdoors, you increase the chances of reaping these benefits for your business.

A happy, motivated and more engaged team nearly always means more revenue, a positive culture and improved customer satisfaction. A company treasure hunt can be held in any city around the world (almost).
