After the past couple of years, we all deserve more from the work Christmas party than a glass of wine and mince pie in the office! Especially when there are so many brilliant Christmas themes out there. We’ve put together five of our favourite themes for Christmas 2021, that will get everyone letting their hair down and reminiscing for years to come!
Santa’s Workshop
A classic Christmas theme that’s graced parties across the globe, Santa’s Workshop is the ideal way to get everyone feeling full of festive joy. The perfect opportunity to go overboard with all things Christmas, this is a theme that works for both large and small events.
The Venue:
Find a venue with warm, grotto vibes, such as a large country house, or make the most of venue dressing to transform a standard meeting room.
Catering:
Serve up delicious hot chocolates (add a touch of baileys for extra indulgence!) and traditional treats like mince pies. If you’re going for a full meal service, keep it classic with a full Christmas dinner and all the trimmings.
Activities:
Liven up your Christmas party with activities worthy of Santa and his elves. Try an indoor soap box race but transform your soapboxes into fantastic sleighs. Or how about a chocolate making workshop? Create tasty treats to gift to family and friends.
80s Mania
Take your office party back to the eighties, and revel in nostalgia. Get everyone to dress in their best leg warmers, decorate the venue with geometric patterns in neon colours, and collate a funky playlist full of legends like Prince, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen.
The Venue:
An 80s theme would work well at most venues, just dress it up with lots of fun styling. If you’re looking for something already on-theme, there are some incredible 80s themed spaces. Check out Maggie’s in London for some vibrant inspiration.
Catering:
Buffet food is perfect for an 80s themed event. Think mini prawn cocktails, sausage rolls and (of course) the classic cheese and pineapple hedgehog! Serve up brightly coloured cocktails, named after 80s movies for extra pizzazz.
Activities:
Ramp up the nostalgia with some fun activities based on eighties game shows. Gameshow Mania takes teams through different themed rounds to win as many points as possible or try The Generation Game for something more hands-on!
Desert Island
Turn festive party themes on their head, and instead of embracing the cold, get away to a desert island paradise! Holidays have been few and far between for a lot of us, so recreate all the fun of a tropical getaway for your end of year party. Give a prize for the best Hawaiian shirt to add a competitive element, or hire a flower wall as a great photo opp.
The Venue:
Look for a venue with plenty of bright spaces and vibrant décor. Lots of natural light will help to give that summery feel, whatever the weather.
Catering:
Fruity cocktails are a must for this one, with bonus points for mini umbrellas and fruit garnish! BBQ style catering adds to the summertime vibes, with delicious skewers and fresh fruit salads.
Activities:
Add to the theme with desert island inspired activities. Embrace your inner pirate with a fun scavenger hunt, and solve themed puzzles to win points and emerge victorious. Or try your hand at cocktail making, and see who can serve up the best drink!
Rock n Roll
Liven up your work Christmas party with an energetic rock n roll theme. Dress your venue with musical memorabilia, get everyone to dress in their best 50s outfits and make sure you’ve got a playlist no-one can resist dancing to.
The Venue:
This theme works at most venues, depending on how big you want to go with it. Good acoustics and space for a dancefloor is a must to get everyone up on their feet. If you want to go all-out with the theme, look for a venue that allows live bands and has space for a stage.
Catering:
American Diner style catering is perfect for this event theme. Thick milkshakes, burgers and fries, hotdogs and warm, buttery popcorn. Delicious!
Activities:
Get musical, with fun team building activities like bandeoke – where teams can get on stage and sing with a live band. A rock n roll themed music quiz is a great activity to run alongside dinner and will get everyone participating.
Viva Las Vegas
Take your team to the USA and visit the bright lights of Vegas, without ever leaving your conference venue! Think outrageous outfits, glitzy performers and casino style entertainment. Loads of fun for everyone involved, Vegas is the theme to go for if you’re looking for something big and exciting.
The Venue:
Choose a venue with atmospheric lighting, or lighting that can be dimmed, that allows for extra AV equipment to be bought in. A Vegas theme calls for impressive light shows and a fun host, so make sure your chosen venue can accommodate this.
Catering:
Go for American themed foods such as hot chicken wings, mini mac and cheese bites, sliders and American candies. Biscuits shaped like card suits or black and red themed foods are also great for setting the scene.
Activities:
Vegas wouldn’t be Vegas without some classic casino entertainment. Play for points on the tables and unleash everyone’s competitive sides. Jazz up your event with glittering acts and performers, such as dancers and magicians. You could even hire an Elvis impersonator for the full Vegas effect!
