How Sustainable Cooking Works

Attendees will be split into groups and given team colours and stations, as they prepare to whip up some competitive spirit.

First up, our professional chef will give demonstrations of knife skills and demonstrate cooking 2 or 3 dishes using locally sourced and produced ingredients. Once your team is all inspired the cook-off begins!

Before teams can release their inner Jamie Oliver, they must collect their chocolate dollars and exchange them for ingredients from the local farmer, ensuring they stay within budget.

Shopping for ingredients will involve strategic thinking as judges will be looking for the best value and quality of the final dishes. All teams must consider waste throughout the activity as any waste created will result in points deducted.

Throughout this cookery event, your chef will give your team tips on how to reduce their carbon footprint when cooking at home.

How do I find a venue for this type of team building activity?

Team building events that involve cooking can require a specific type of venue with ample space for cooking equipment and health and safety procedures in place. To make life easy, speak to our event management team who will help you find the perfect venue for your cooking event.

What is required from the host venue for this activity?

With any cooking team building event we offer, there are specifics we ask for from the host venue. Firstly, we require single phase electric, not just ordinary sockets. Secondly, our event management team would need up to four hours for set up in the morning for the activity to run in the afternoon.

We would also require space to create a pop up kitchen, we do not use the venue’s own kitchen or equipment!

Lastly, access is essential. Ground floor space with a easy access loading area is ideal however if you plan your event on a higher floor then we require sufficient lift space for equipment.

Don’t panic, our venue finding team can source the perfect spot for this unique activity, as well as planning the details with them. So you can be sure it is being dealt with and you don’t need to worry.

What happens to the food the team make?

At the end of the team cooking class, it is important that participants are responsible for their own dishes, they are either consumed on the day or can be taken home. We can’t unfortunately donate waste food to charity due to food hygiene regulations.
