We were tasked with coordinating the successful delivery of a large Retro School Sports Day at Mythe Barn for 130 participants from Aldi.
The purpose of the day was to bring colleagues together to help improve cross-team communication whilst enjoying an engaging and fun outdoor experience. This was part of a wider series of team activities intended to entertain an increased staff group.
After discussing the initial inquiry with the client, we set about searching for a venue. Our search was focused on finding somewhere that was easily accessible with ample outdoor space. With 150 acres of private land and 3 large event fields, our multi-purpose venue, Mythe Barn, was identified as the perfect solution for this activity.

The ideal outdoor event for large groups, our Retro School Sports Day provided a unique opportunity for an organisation like Aldi to improve morale and collectively celebrate business and individual achievements.

In this exciting activity, participants formed teams, joining with people from various departments to help get to know each other better. Teams were treated to a great selection of retro school games such as the egg-and-spoon race, skipping race, big feet football slalom, and the three-legged race.
We designed a day where all participants could get involved and engage in a variety of retro games to keep the activities feeling fresh and exciting.
Participants began their experience by arriving at Mythe Barn where they were greeted with refreshments and a BBQ lunch. Participants were then split into 16 different teams and treated to a variety of fun activities to help them re-energise themselves in the outdoors. Our Headteacher was on-hand to ensure everything ran smoothly on the day and inspire some light-hearted competition.
The variety of retro games and challenges created a memorable experience for everyone at Aldi. The team had this to say about the event:
“We hired Eventurous to run a school sports day for us and we had an amazing time! They were always on hand to help when we hit a bump in the road leading up to the event and the day event couldn't have gone any better. Justin and his team did a fab job getting everyone involved and getting the banter flowing! They are a credit to your team and we will definitely be using Eventurous again for our future events.
